We timed our visit this week to take in the National Horse Fair (English) or Feira Nacional do Cavalo (Portuguese). It’s an amazing spectacle centered around the Lusitano horse, all manner of riding attire, and roasted chestnuts.
My friend Keron and her husband (2026 update: Carlos has since passed) are very active in this community and they were most gracious hosts in introducing us to this evening’s festivities.
There’s something amusing about the mix of modern and historical here …
