Today I hired a guide to show me around the interesting parts of the island.

We started in Hagåtña, the capital:

A Christmas light display on a grassy lawn shows two Santa figures in a glowing red sleigh being pulled by a golden carabao (water buffalo) instead of reindeer, set beneath tall palm trees. In the background are a low white building flying flags and an arched stone structure under a bright blue sky.

And then, from a nearby hill (once used for a fort), we could see the beach and resort area where we are staying:

After that, we circled the south part of the island and enjoyed various beaches and overlooks:

A leaning tree with leafy green branches grows along a sandy shoreline strewn with dark coral rocks and exposed driftwood roots, its limbs stretching out over shallow turquoise water under a blue sky with scattered white clouds. Distant low-lying land is faintly visible on the horizon.

A black-and-white image of dark, silhouetted casuarina trees with multiple trunks and drooping, feathery foliage in the foreground, set against a luminous sky and a calm sea on the horizon. Bright, light-toned grasses and shrubs spread across the coastal landscape behind the trees, with other foliage visible to the right.
Fort Nuestra Señora de la Soledad, Humåtak, Guam
A coastal view from a grassy hillside overlooking Umatac Bay, with a long line of breaking surf curving across calm blue-green water and green, rolling hills meeting the shore. Palm trees and a few small buildings line the coastline beneath a bright blue sky scattered with white clouds.
Fort Nuestra Señora de la Soledad, Humåtak, Guam
A coastal tropical scene at the Inarajan Natural Pool in Guam, where a calm protected lagoon of clear shallow water sits behind rugged limestone rock formations covered in green vegetation, with ocean waves breaking against the reef beyond. Lush green leafy shrubs fill the foreground and a partly cloudy blue sky stretches overhead.
Inarajan Natural Pool, Inalåhan, Guam
A calm, shallow tidal pool with clear water rimmed by low rocky outcrops and dense green mangrove-like shrubs, with ocean waves breaking over a distant reef beneath a blue sky scattered with puffy white clouds. Casuarina trees frame the upper left, and dark volcanic rocks sit in the foreground.

A grove of tall ironwood trees with reddish-brown trunks and feathery green foliage growing on sandy, root-covered ground beside a calm coastal pool and grassy clearing, with dark volcanic rocks and a hazy shoreline visible in the background.

And closed with the view from Two Lovers’ Point:

A high coastal viewpoint looks down a lush green forested headland with a sheer limestone cliff on the left, fringed by a sandy beach and turquoise water over coral reef. In the distance, a cluster of high-rise hotels and buildings lines the shore under a blue sky dotted with scattered clouds.

Oh, and one more thing, there a few fun Christmas decorations on a nearby street.
