We drove from Firenza/Florence today. It’s a long haul, but there were some very fun side quests along the way.

Having just crossed into France, we took a moment to take in the view on the Riviera coast.
Microstates fascinate me. I visited two last year (Luxembourg and Liechtenstein) and will visit two more on this trip.
Today we are in Monaco, less than one square mile. It’s astoundingly rich and densely developed. Here are a few photo impressions …
After Monaco, we had to high-tail it the rest of the way to our hotel in Marseilles. We did stop briefly for coffee along the autoroute. McDonald’s is a little bit different in France:
Today’s drive is brought to you by the words “tunnel” and “fest.” The Italians and French built a lot of them – 194! – on our route today.
