We enjoyed a jungle nature walk this morning, and then drove over some very windy mountain roads to exit the Sinharaja Nature Preserve, and on to the edge of the Yala Nature Preserve. We’re told there will be many wild animals in tomorrow’s tour of Yala.

A long, dark, S-curved millipede with many segmented body rings and tiny legs crawling on the textured, pale grey bark of a tree trunk, set against a blurred backdrop of lush green forest foliage.

An Asian elephant stands on a grassy embankment beside a wire fence at the edge of the Uda Walawe Reservoir, with the wide blue water and a partly cloudy sky stretching behind it. The elephant has dust on its head and back, and faces the camera near the dirt and patchy grass at the water's edge.

Three water buffalo stand partly submerged in a wide green-tinted lake under a bright blue sky with scattered white clouds. Along the far shoreline are dense green bushes and trees, with a lookout tower or pavilion visible in the distance.

Our neighbors at room 145, who did not want to allow us to pass along the trail.

Two long-tailed gray langur monkeys with long tails sit on a sun-dappled reddish dirt path that runs through lush green woodland, with a small red sign reading “144” beside the track and a smaller green sign further along.
