Australia Day 4: North Tasmania

28 June 2025 203 km / 126 mi (map)

After a few days of go-go-go we needed a respite. So my daughter took a day to lay low and I took a casual drive around the north part of the island.

I briefly toured the Cataract Gorge Reserve just outside of Launceston and then meandered through some farm country to the west.

A weathered rock cliff face patched with pale lichen runs along the left side of a dirt path, with feathery she-oak trees and a bright blue sky scattered with white clouds above at Cataract Gorge Reserve.

An elevated view from Bradys Lookout over a wide, calm river winding between forested hills, with crepuscular sun rays breaking through a heavy grey overcast sky and faint smoke and small townships visible along the far shore.

A tall, weathered dead tree trunk stripped of bark and leaves rises against a cloudy blue sky, its bare twisted branches reaching upward, with green-leaved eucalyptus foliage on the right side of the frame.
