Lisa and I went for a hike in the Guillemot Cove Nature Reserve near our home yesterday. It was a good hike and we enjoyed some quiet time on the Hood Canal beach.

A narrow dirt trail winds through a dense coniferous forest, flanked by lush green ferns on the right and low leafy shrubs on the left, with tall evergreen tree trunks rising into a canopy of green. A mossy fallen log lies beside the path in the foreground.

A wide tidal flat exposed at low tide along a calm cove, with shellfish-strewn gravel and mud in the foreground giving way to shallow water. Forested hills and mountains rise across the water under a partly cloudy sky, with a dense stand of evergreen trees and a small white house on the shoreline to the right.

A meadow of tall grasses and wildflowers, including white yarrow and rusty-red flower spikes, scattered with weathered gray fallen logs and driftwood, backed by a dense green wall of conifer and deciduous forest.

A grassy meadow with wildflowers stretches toward a calm body of water, framed by dense evergreen forests on both sides. Beyond the water, forested mountain ridges rise under a bright blue sky scattered with white clouds.
